Three steel boxes became a head and body. Angular legs and exposed welds gave the planter a deliberately rough character.

A change of plants

Watering living plants could rust the steel, even after coating. So I filled the three boxes with LEGO plants, bringing a little color to the raw metal.

Wet felting · Wool

Dream
Felt Hat

Wool already feels warm and a little dreamlike to me. I shaped it into a hat and chose soft pink, violet, and hints of blue to carry that feeling.

From fiber to felt

A flat, oversized template gradually became a hat shaped to fit my head.

I sized the resist beyond my head circumference to allow for shrinkage.

I spent evenings after work and weekends learning at a tattoo studio. After about two years, I began tattooing. These are a few of my pieces.

Sewing

After taking Soft Fabrication at CMU, I started experimenting with a sewing machine and making things for everyday life.
